Posted: February 23, 2017 It’s game time on February 25th, 2017 at our annual Sadie Hawkins dance!
What is the big deal about Sadies, and why should the student body participate in it? Sadies, this year in particular, has a very different theme than in the past three years: EHS Sportscenter. The sophomore class did very well in that it is a theme that will get a very positive reaction from the student body. We are expecting a large participation at Sadie's this year because of the theme, yet it is still up to the students themselves whether they choose to attend the dance, popular theme or not. Does Sadies lose or gain more attention from the students with each year? Sadie Hawkins is the least raved about dance in high school compared to Homecoming and Prom, regardless the theme or hype put towards it. In Student Council, we always try our best to make it something that the student body will want to participate in, by the way we voice the dance out to the student body, and how we present it to them with the posters we make. How does the dance become a possibility? Sadies is put together by the entire Student Council class, but it is lead by the Sophomore class officers and representatives. We do this so that each class has a vital part in every school year by assigning them certain events. Being that the Sophomore class are the leaders of this event, they get first hand at everything that goes into Sadie's: The decorations, the pieces put on the walls, what days the council will be coming in for work days, and the fine details that will make the dance a success. We still incorporate the opinions of every other member in the council so that it is a collective game plan though.
