By: Garrison Gavin, Posted: April 7, 2017 After the historic baseball World Series, players get a few months off then it's back to training for the next season. During this time, teams from the west coast travel to Arizona and teams from the east coast travel to Florida.
Teams endure training at their MLB camps. In no time they begin to play games. The two leagues are the Cactus league in AZ, and the Grapefruit league in FL. Fans are able to go to these MLB facilities and watch the players train, then later play a game in a stadium environment. This time of year gives teams the ability to try new talent that has been drafted or signed to that specific team. For example, while the major league teams are playing, players from the minors and rookie ball get called up to showcase their skills against the best players in the world. If these rookies can handle themselves, then they are often given a spot in the big leagues or are sent back down to the minor leagues so they can develop more as a player. When major league teams play during spring training the games are played in a stadium and fans are able to come watch and just like a regular season game. More than often, fans are able to interact with their favorite players as well as get autographs and items from the players. This is the best time to ask questions and get an insight for the upcoming season. Ticket prices are reduced so fans can enjoy the games. People often travel to Arizona or Florida to watch these games for the weekend. Major league players can also be seen training on off days or before a game. Fans are usually walking around the entire facility watching hitter, pitchers, and all players doing their individual and group practice. Spring training is a great way for die hard baseball fans to watch their favorite teams compete in these pre-season games.
